Juozas Jonaitis was among the first ones (together with colleagues O. Surovas and A. Černikis and with a help of professor S. Čepulis) to start applying dental implants in clinical practice in Soviet Union.

• Juozas Jonaitis graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry of Kaunas Institute of Medicine in 1980.
• After completing prosthetic dentistry internship (1980-1981) he is working as a dental prosthetist. 
• Juozas Jonaitis defended doctoral dissertation of medical sciences in 1989 (thesis title “Appliance of ceramic implants and peculiarities of subsequent dental prosthetics“). He has been working as a lecturer in Lithuanian University of Health Sciences since 1985.
• In 1996 he was awarded with the pedagogical title of associate professor.
• He has published several methodological recommendations as well as educational book, around 20 scientific and clinical-practice articles on the topic of dental prosthetics. Juozas Jonaitis is also a member of editorial board of magazine “Stomatologija“.
• He is an active participant of social life of dental community; he holds lectures in events of informal education; he also holds clinical practical training for dentists.
• Juozas Jonaitis is a founder and director of a private dentistry clinic (since 1997) where he also works as a dental prosthetist.
• In 2014 he was awarded with St. Apollonia nomination for merits in dentistry.
• His leisure time interests are out-door tennis, downhill skiing, hunting and fishing.
